Coal use by fertilizer industry: DOF reluctant to act
Nov 21: 8There are 7 gas based urea units that are using coal for power and steam generation. The cost of energy through coal is lower than the cost of energy through gas, but the energy efficiency through coal in Gcal per tonne of urea is lower. Yet the total cost of energy through coal is lower than the cost of energy through the gas.
8This is the reason why the government is also encouraging the use of coal for power generation but while fixing the energy consumption norms under NUP2015 this aspect was overlooked.
8Despite petitions from the industry, the DOF is reluctant to take further action
