Indian gas dilemma

Feb 12: 8Only about 35-55 mmscmd of additional gas production is expected in the next 10-12 years in India.
8Field wise production growth is projected here up to the year 2030. See reports
8With just 30-35 mmscmd of extra gas demand, there will be a demand-supply gap, as growth in gas consumption could be around 5.1 percent, taking India’s gas demand to 270 mmscmd by 2030
8CGD gas consumption could grow by 10% every year till 2030
8As for fertilizers, a growth rate of around 4 percent is expected till 2030. This sector is unlikely to prefer new domestic gas as the take-or-pay aspect is risky
8The power sector cannot afford gas. Gas-based power generation in India is unlikely to increase as the sector cannot afford the gas landed price of USD 9.5 per mmbtu. Even new domestic gas will be unaffordable. At this rate , the landed power price would be around Rs  7.25 per unit, which is well beyond the average power purchase cost in India
8The refinery sector will need gas, projected to grow at 11% till 2030, and companies in this segment may bid for new domestic gas
8Surprisingly, the industrial sector offtake is not expected to be much. Know why
8The question then is how to find innovative ways to increase the use of gas in India
