8Agriculture is undergoing a fourth revolution triggered by the exponentially increasing use of information and communication technology. It reduces the ecological footprint of farming and minimizes application of inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides. With current ICT, it is possible to create a sensor network allowing for almost continuous monitoring of the farm.
8This mode of service is expected to yield more fruit for national economic growth if power infrastructure is extended to the rural areas, the communication facilities made available with reduced cost and improved quality, while the farmers are educated to enhance their ICT literacy.
